My Lampe Berger Fragrance Lamp Will Not Stay Lit, Please Help

Are you having a problem keeping your Lampe Berger fragrance lamp lit?  If so, the information below will probably help you.

First off, make sure that you are using only original Lampe Berger fragrance oils in your fragrance lamp.  Provided that is the case, the reason your Lampe Berger burner will not stay lit is probably because the wick has soaked up too much fragrance oil and has become overly saturated.  This usually occurs because of one of the following reasons:

  1. Your lamp is filled too high with fragrance oil - Lampe Berger recommends that you fill your fragrance lamp up to 2/3 the way full and no more.  But, in our experience filling your fragrance lamp 1/2 full with fragrance oil is better, especially if you are having this problem.
  2. Your wick needs replacement - You should replace your Lampe Berger Wick / Burner every year or 200 uses, whatever comes first. Also, do not use the cheaper knock off brand catalytic burners in your Lampe Berger because they do not work very well.

If you are using a newer wick / burner with original Lampe Berger fragrance oils, following these steps below will probably help get your burner working properly again.  First, remove your wick / burner from the lamp and place it somewhere safe away from children and pets to dry out for about 24 hours.  Then, make sure your fragrance lamp is no more than 1/2 full with the Lampe Berger oil.  Finally, replace your dried out wick and follow the instructions for first time use of your Lampe Berger Lamp.

In our experience this will solve your problem of the Lampe Berger burner not staying lit the majority of the time.  Give it a try, it can't hurt, won't cost you anything and will probably greatly improve your Lampe Berger usage experience.

I purchased my oil lamp last month and have used it twice where it worked. Now it seems I’m fighting it. My stone is having issues with not wanting to light. Really aggravating considering I followed the directions to a “T”. Lighting it and letting it sit for 80 seconds.
Half the time it doesn’t start, isn’t even glowing at 80 seconds, the other half the time it just does not want to light. Please help me with this problem.

    Angela,
We recommend buying a short wick for your lamp which should help. You can purchase them here: https://fragranceoilsdirect.com/collections/lampe-berger-accessories/products/lampe-berger-3c-wick-burner-short-1

I’m not sure if people know what they are doing with these things.
    1. Fill glass half way with fragrance and set the wick making sure you have the cap on the stone.
    2. let sit for a minimum of 30 minutes so the wick can do its job getting wet
    3. Remove the cap from the stone and light the stone so you have a nice flame going. (My flame usually bounces between 3-5 inches).
    4. LET IT BURN FOR 60-80 SECONDS THEN BLOW IT OUT. Cover the stone with safety cage and enjoy.
    5. I’ve known a few people who thought the L.B. was supposed to burn like a candle, it is not..
    6. If you want to make sure your stone is hot CAREFULLY take it into a dark closet and look at the stone, the entire stone should be glowing a nice soft red.

    Enjoy

Triv, There’s always a possibility of a wick being defective. It should last one year or up to 200 uses, whichever comes first.
